Some awesome news has come to my attention—thanks to Chako—that Europe will be moving into Season 3 Open Beta estimated around January 21st or 22nd. It seems that their servers will shut down on January 18th in the evening, and then become unavailable until they have announced Season 3 Open Beta is open. No exact date of when it will be up is revealed, but they will notify those with an account via newsletter (and I’m pretty positive they’ll announce it on their website as well). When they officially have Open Beta up, Season 2 will be permanently unavailable. So make sure to savor the time you have!

Why would Season 3 be in open BETA? Isn’t it just “closed beta” and then just S3? That makes it seem like A18 has been in S3 open beta for a year!! XDDD

  2. Kanashimi Says:

    They’re calling it Open Beta.

“We are proud to announce that we have made all the preparations to launch the Open Beta. This phase of testing will allow everybody to access the Beta Client.”

If I recall correctly, didn’t Albatross 18 have an Open Beta, then close down another day to finalize it? My memory might be off, but I thought that was what happened. xD

  3. Hinano Says:

    Did it ?_? I forgot to be honest…I was never in the closed beta, I just started playing soon as they opened S3 to the public o_o;

  4. Miki Says:

wow I thought A18 was far behind, lol :)

  5. Ana Says:

Albatross18 had very short closed and open betas for season 3. They were both a few days each. I didn’t get into the closed beta so I dunno all the details, but one of my friends did. She mentioned everyone getting some free pang to mess around with, and random ranks were assigned. Then the open beta started, and they added Kaz. I played that for about a day, spent it goofing off in Psquares. Somebody made a big deal about buying my xmas nose despite the fact that everything got rolled back for the actual season 3 release. =P

  6. Myray Says:

they call it open beta because i think there are some little bugs left and they will charge it to the full version when its run fine
because the s2 get closed down all go to the beta and they get good feedbacks

btw all the thingy that you doing in the ob remains in the “full version”

  7. Snowcat Says:

Ah, Alba18 Closed Beta… I’d say it was the best time I ever had in that game. People were excided and friendly, you could actually have a nice chat in PSquares (or do silly things - I should upload the “circle of Bobs”-screenshot somewhere), GMs were not just vaguely present but actively fooling around too, there was usually an Approach-mode room or two open (unless it was broken again), chatter within a game was generally nice instead of pure silence or spams of “PPIC” and similiar.

When the open beta came the atmosphere “cooled” down noticably and I guess everybody who played soon after S3 release remembers the intense “Item $FOO for $AMOUNT”-spamming on all available methods of communication.

(Disclaimer: I haven’t played for many months, things may have changed by now. Maybe I should log in just to check if they fixed all of the bugs I reported - there were still some left ~2 months after S3 release.)

Snowcat > Nothing changed on A18, I think is even got worse. There’s still a lot of spammers, cheaters, quitters, nosy kids who want to know your gender, age and what not, not to mention that on servers marked as English only, English is the least used language on open chats. There are still some things that should work and they don’t, but hey, it’s the only server that I play on right now without having to meddle with security numbers and/or starting from scratch…
